Stevie Wonder will receive the accolade in the musical arts category. The artist, songwriter, musician, and producer who at the age of 13, was the youngest recording artist to achieve a number one single, went on to amass 49 top forty singles in the US, worldwide sales of over 100 million units and 25 Grammy Awards amongst his many achievements.
Mariah Carey will receive the accolade in the entertainment category. She is still the top-selling female recording artist in history, has won numerous Grammy awards and is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 50 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 number one hits.
The other 2012 recipients include poet/author Maya Angelou (Literary Arts), filmmaker Spike Lee (Media), Tuskegee Airmen (Service) and coach and mentorBeverly Kearney (Education).
