YouTube toughens copyright identification processes

It is updating and improving its Content ID database by partnering with three new video transcoding companies - Harmonic, Telestream and Digital Rapids.

The move is intended to streamline the takedown process, so media companies will find it easier to identify their content and alert YouTube to any claims of infringement.

The content owners will also find it more straightforward to claim ownership of footage and place ads around it or build in click-through purchase links.
