Arwen Curson appointed VP Creative for Universal Music Publishing Australia/New Zealand

Arwen Curson has joined Universal Music Publishing Australia and New Zealand as its new VP Creative.

Reporting to president of Universal Music Publishing Australia and Asia Pacific Region Andrew Jenkins, Curson will be based out of the UMP Sydney office and will be responsible for both the company’s A&R and film/TV synch teams.

Curson brings with her over 12 years of experience in artist management, label management, publishing and A&R. She was most recently director of operations, Australia and New Zealand for Crowdmix, the London-based, music-focused social media platform.

Prior to her move to Australia, Curson was partner and artist manager at ATC Management in the UK for almost nine years, where she managed a number of artists including Kate Nash and Half Moon Run. She also helped develop and break UK band Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Commenting on the appointment, Jenkins said: “With a huge talent and 360-degree perspective and insight into the music business, Arwen is the perfect person to help us implement our future creative strategy at Universal Music Publishing Australia. She brings a fresh approach to our creative activities, a unique vision, driving ambition and great personal skills, all of which will be of tremendous benefit to our artists and writers.”

Curson added: “I am stoked to be joining the UMPG team and to be working with the likes of Jody and Andrew, whose ideology, vision and passion I both share and admire. Australia and New Zealand have an exceptional pool of talent and I'm excited to be given the opportunity to make sure that talent is nurtured, recognised and celebrated, not only here, but on the international stage.”
