Giddings opens second festival on Isle of Wight
10:51 | Friday April 18, 2008
Isle of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings is launching a second summer festival on the island which will see Paul Weller and Girls Aloud fill the headline slots at the two-day event.
Taking place on July 26 and 27 at the 19th century, 1000-acre estate Osbourne House, a property once owned by Queen Victoria, the event, entitled Osbourne House, will be hosted by English Heritage.
“It's great to be involved with developing the music scene on the island,” says Giddings. “And especially at one of the most beautiful locations in the country.”
English Heritage head of visitor operations on the Isle of Wight Dean Pascall says, "Staging concerts in the grounds of important historic sites like Osborne House is a very immediate way of engaging people with their heritage as well as attracting a diverse audience, some of whom may never normally visit a historic property.”
