Sony BMG European president steps down

Sony BMG did not wish to comment but Steinkamp, a former journalist who joined BMG in 1988, confirmed that he is stepping down.

However, reports that he has left the company are inaccurate.

The news comes as the New York Times yesterday reported that Sony BMG parent company Bertelsmann is planning to intensify talks with the Sony Corporation about selling its stake in the music major.
