New file format adds fourth dimension

08:30 | Monday September 8, 2008

Technology company Musinaut has created a new audio file, which it says gives music a “fourth dimension” by allowing a single file to contain different arrangements.

MXP4 means that artists can include several “finished” versions of a track, according to the preferences of each band member, using the MXP4 Creator.

Music fans can listen to MXP4 files using a free-to-download MXP4 player, which will play each track based no the rules decided by the artist – this can stretch to thousands of possible playback variations, the company claims.

The artist can also add multimedia content, such as text, artwork, photos and lyrics to the file, which will show up during playback.

Musinaut CEO Trish Thomson explains, “The music industry is looking for new and creative ways to present their artists and increase revenue.

“MXP4 technology has come at timely point giving artists and the industry a new and dynamic way they can offer richer content to consumers. Currently recorded music is static and two dimensional. MXP4 technology makes it far more exciting and dynamic by giving it extra dimensions enabling artists to be more expressive and giving listeners a more interesting, fun and interactive experience.”

Already electro-pop artist Margaux has completed her forthcoming album Spookydubois at Corfe Castle album using MXP4 technology.

She says, “MXP4 technology is such a powerful format and a breath of fresh air for the digital music industry. It’s given me the freedom to go beyond musical boundaries and opens up an endless amount of new possibilities. As an artist, songwriting was becoming formulaic and boring, but using MXP4 technology I can now be surprised by my own music.”

Different arrangements for what ? No serious artist will accept to have his rock song turned into reggae. This is already the past you should check the TronMe Media Player: http://www.tronme.com you can interact with the track and the video in a much better way. It seems that music and art are being pulled closer all the time with the development of new technology. More choices are becoming available for the consumer which can only be a good thing for the inustry.
