Police intervention helps Universal throw weight behind Blu-ray
07:08 | Monday September 15, 2008
Universal Music is putting its weight behind the Blu-ray format, with 25 releases from the major hitting the market this year with another 20 to follow next January.
Leading this schedule is the November 24 release of a live set from The Police, recorded at the band’s recent concert in Buenos Aires. The major is also supporting a “Music on Blu-ray” event at London’s Metropolis Studios on September 25 alongside EMI, Sony BMG, Eagle Vision HD and the British Video Association, with the aim of getting retailers and journalists behind the fledgling format.
The Police: Certifiable, will be available in three formats: a standard DVD and CD set, a deluxe two-DVD/two-CD release and a Blu-ray/two-CD set.
