HMV names CLIC Sargent as charity partner
17:15 | Thursday November 20, 2008
HMV and sister company Fopp have selected children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent as their nominated charity partner for 2008-2010.
Staff at the 250 HMV and Fopp stores will be challenged to raise as much money as possible for the charity through various local store events and other activities.
As part of these plans, employees will be able to take part in the first HMV & Fopp Inter-Regional 5-Aside Football tournament, which will now take place annually, starting in March 2009.
CLIC Sargent head of corporate fundraising Querida Williams says, "We are thrilled to have been selected by HMV and Fopp to be their nominated charity, and, on behalf of everyone at CLIC Sargent, I would like to say a massive thank you.
HMV Group CEO Simon Fox adds, "I am delighted that HMV and Fopp are working so enthusiastically with CLIC Sargent - not only to help raise much needed funding, but also to increase awareness of the wonderful and vital support this organisation gives to children and young people with cancer.
While CLIC Sargent will be the company's official nominated charity, HMV will continue to maintain a relationship with Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy by continuing as one of the sponsors of its Silver Clef Luncheon and Football Extravaganza events.
