BPI makes arrest in DV8 case
11:31 | Monday June 22, 2009
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Portsmouth as part of an investigation into leaking pre-release music on filesharing networks.
The arrest follows a joint investigation by the BPI and IFPI in conjunction with the City of London Police and the Intellectual Property Office.
The BPI believes a group entitled DV8 is responsible for leaking more than 2,500 titles.
The investigation has already recovered a substantial quantity of promotional CDs and computer equipment, including an active FTP server and client and software used in connection with ripping and digitising content.
BPI director of anti-piracy David Wood says, “Although the investigation continues, even at this early stage we believe that a full forensic examination of the equipment recovered will yield a lot of useful evidence and intelligence about the ‘scene’ and the criminal activities of those involved in pre-release music uploading.”

My latest album 'Ruby Paul-Forbidden Fruit' was released in March on itunes etc, and 're-released' four weeks later by DV8 on April 6th. The album file was catapulted across the globe instantly and has continued to spread virally ever since on filehosting sites blogs and torrents. Ruby Paul
