Topman links with Rough Trade to sell music
10:33 | Monday July 13, 2009
Topman is to sell music at its flagship Oxford Street store, after signing a deal with London retailer Rough Trade.
The deal will create Rough Trade's first concession. It will open in late summer when the store's store expansion plan is completed.
Rough Trade director Stephen Godfroy says, “This is an exciting opportunity to introduce our music retail expertise and vision into one of the busiest store environments in the world. Our new Topman location will provide the same experience we provide customers in our own stores, which is an authoritative and informative edit of new releases, rewarding shoppers with music discovery on every visit”.
Topman managing director David Shepherd adds, "It's fantastic that Rough Trade are on board to be part of this exciting and significant expansion for Topman as a brand. Music has quickly become the lifeblood of Topman - over recent years we have strived to support unsigned and new music talent and we now own our own music platform - Topman CTRL. It makes absolute sense to be able to offer our customers the best of what's out there music - wise. Rough Trade are a very credible voice within music retail, a real authority. We are very excited to have them onboard."
