10:05 | Wednesday September 2, 2009
Nick Cave’s new novel The Death of Bunny Munro has been released as a download by publisher Canongate through audible.co.uk and iTunes.
Featuring a soundtrack by Cave and regular collaborator Warren Ellis and read by the author, the download is priced £21 and was produced by British artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.
“The idea of a book which can be experienced in different ways is exciting for me,” says Cave. “Iain and Jane have created a groundbreaking audio journey which allows the listener to experience the book in a hitherto unprecedented third dimension.”
The duo, who have directed video’s for Cave and his band the Bad Seeds as well as side-project Grinderman, are currently creating a series of films for Mute’s reissue of the entire Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds catalogue
Forsyth and Pollard worked with a team from New York studio Arup Acoustics. A physical edition will be available on the publication of the hardback later this month, made up of 7CDs with a DVD of 11 films of Cave reading sections of the text. This carries a retail tag of £30.
