Shazam launches new iPhone App
Monday November 9, 2009
Shazam is hoping that its latest iPhone application will prove as popular as its first, as it launches Shazam Encore for the mobile handset today.
The company’s first iPhone App has been downloaded by more than 10 million users worldwide and will remain available free of charge to existing users. However, the Encore App is seeking to upgrade the Shazam functionality and with a one-time fee of £2.99 (€3.99/$4.99) it boasts a number of enhanced features designed to appeal to iPhone users.
According to its developers Shazam Encore includes a number of new features including improved speed performance, music recommendations whereby users can discover other music similar to the track that has been tagged to enhance their music collection and a search facility to easily find music by artist, album or track from over 8m songs.
“Since our launch on the App Store, Shazam has achieved a huge following with iPhone and iPod touch users and is now one of the most popular music apps in the world,” says Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher.
He adds, “From launching the first mobile music recognition service in 2002, Shazam is yet again defining the way mobile users experience the music around them. And now, seven years on we’re offering Shazam fans a compelling application which will allow them to discover, acquire and share new music in more ways than ever before, while still enabling new users to download and use Shazam for free.”
