Smash Hits returns for Take That special
11:28 | Tuesday November 17, 2009
Legendary pop magazine Smash Hits returns once more tomorrow, with a special Take That issue.
The magazine, which closed in 2006, returned for a Michael Jackson special in July following the star’s death.
Bauer Media managing director of music and film titles Stuart Williams says that Take That are a perfect fit for the title. "The return of Take That in 2006 heralded a huge resurgence in pop,” he says. “There is no bigger act in the UK right now than Take That and we're delighted to be bringing everyone's favourite pop mag back for this very special issue.”
The 84-page Take That special, which arrives in newsstands tomorrow (Wednesday), sees Barry McIlheney return as editor-in-chief. McIlheney, who was Smash Hits editor during the late Eighties, was also responsible for the Jackson one-off.
He says, “Take That were the biggest thing in the Smash Hits world of the early Nineties. It seems only right that we should salute them in the unique Smash Hits style."
