Shazam links with (RED)
10:17 | Tuesday November 24, 2009
Shazam is the first mobile application to link up with (RED) raising money in the fight against AIDS.
The new (PRODUCT)REDTM special edition application on the iTunes App store will give iPhone and iPod touch users access to the same features as those within the recently launched Shazam Encore along with updated content about the impact of (RED).
(SHAZAM)RED, which users can now download for one-time fee of £2.99, can be identified on the App Store by its unique and specially designed red-coloured product icon. For each application purchased 20% of the price is contributed to the global fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Shazam joins other leading brands such as American Express, Apple, Dell, Gap and Starbucks, which already offer (RED) products.
“(RED) enables consumers to positively impact the lives of those living with AIDS in Africa through their purchases of products and we are incredibly honored to be the first mobile app company to partner with them,” says Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher. “Given our popularity and that we already have more than 10 million iPhone and iPod touch users around the world, (SHAZAM)RED is a powerful way for our audience to create real change in the world.”
In the three years since (RED) launched it has generated $140 million.
