City Showcase launches talent search for 2010
Wednesday November 25, 2009
London’s City Showcase is launching a search for new talent to perform at its events in 2010.
City Showcase will take place on May 6-8 and organisers are planning to make next year’s festival the biggest and best to date by opening with a bang on an outdoor stage in Gerrard Street, Soho on May 5.
In the past, the event has helped showcase emerging artists including Keane, Razorlight, Amy Winehouse, Newton Faulkner, Hot Chip, Scouting for Girls, Sway, Seth Lakeman, N-Dubz, Gurrumul, Lady Sovereign, Jay Sean, Mr Hudson and Ray LaMontagne, garnering them all a huge amount of industry and media attention.
The 2010 gathering will also use venues such as The Borderline, The 100 Club, and a number of shops in Carnaby Street and Regent Street, where The Apple store, will host three days of workshops.
Event Producer Nanette Rigg says, "Following the success of the first ever outdoor rock show in London’s Chinatown in 2009 which received national coverage, we are really pleased to be hosting another outside stage in Gerrard Street.
“We are also working on adding more stages in unique Central London locations to City Showcase’s growing portfolio and to consolidating City Showcase as London’s number one showcase for new music."
Musicians hoping to participate in City Showcase can apply via www.sonicbids.com/cityshowcase before the deadline of January 20.
