Blackwell to receive MPG award
09:36 | Monday January 18, 2010
Island Records founder Chris Blackwell is to receive an outstanding contribution gong at this year’s Music Producers Guild Awards.
The award is a new category for 2010 and is sponsored by PPL.
MPG chairman Steve Levine says it will recognise “those who have made a significant contribution over a long period of time to the success of the UK music recording industry”.
“This may be a producer or engineer, but it can equally be a manager, an A&R person or even a great artist,” Levine adds. “Chris Blackwell is certainly a worthy recipient and we’re delighted to be able to honour him with this award.”
There will be 15 categories in total at the MPG Awards, which take place on February 11, including producer of the year, recording engineer of the yea and the Joe Meek award for innovation in production.
