PPL provides new B2B video service
10:20 | Thursday February 11, 2010
PPL has launched a new online music video service which will allow users to download videos and have them delivered digitally - in broadcast quality - in a matter of minutes.
PPL Video Store will provide access to a massive catalogue of music videos from the sixties to the present day and includes artists such as Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and Pet Shop Boys.
It will be useful for programme-makers when they require a specific video or if they want to search the extensive video library and preview titles online. And because broadcast quality videos are delivered in minutes it means tight broadcasting deadlines can be met.
PPL director of licensing Tony Clark says because the store provides a one-stop-shop where users can browse, preview and download music videos “it brings the distribution of music videos into the 21st century.”
Clark adds, “Our broadcast licensees have confirmed to us there is a need for such a service and we hope to see growing use of music videos as a result.”
Files are available in standard formats MPEG-2 50i and 15 mbps and the back end service is supplied by French-based media provider, Akamedia.
Registering for this new service is free and can be done online at pplvideostore.com

This is a good move, PPL thanks for thinking ahead, 21st century is all about speed, if we can have broadcast quality delivered in minutes and ready to go then this will open up new revenue route for everyone, i just hope PPL gets to consider the independent artists for video promotion. ghettorecords
