Sales up at Sony Music
16:59 | Thursday July 29, 2010
Sony Music has reported a 1.3% growth in sales in its first financial quarter of the year, thanks to releases from artists including AC/DC, Usher and the Glee Cast.
The music major posted revenue of 110.3bn yen (£0.81bn) for the three months to June 30, while operating income rose to 7.5bn yen (£55m).
In a statement, the company says, “The increase reflects the strong sales of a number of key releases which more than offset the continued contraction of the physical music market. Best-selling titles during the current quarter included AC/DC’s soundtrack to Iron Man 2, music from the hit U.S. television show Glee, Kana Nishino’s to LOVE, Usher’s Raymond v Raymond and Christina Aguilera’s Bionic.”
Parent company Sony Corp reported a 3.8% increase in revenue to 1.6tn yen.

"Bionic" is by far the Best Album release this 2010, Christina did a great job, It's Amazing!
support the real artist bionic is one of the best albums of this year!
"Bionic" is definitely a fun album...she didn't go the "conventional" route at all and the collaborators like Sia and Ladytron made some really exciting contributions..."Birds of Prey" on the Deluxe edition is probably one of the best songs she's ever recorded
