SoundCloud confirmed the investment on its official blog and said it would be used to grow the service, particularly in the US.

In a Q&A on the blog, Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures says, "The SoundCloud culture has captured an ideal balance between technical excellence and creativity. It's a special group of people."
