The singer, whose real name is Nathaniel D Hale, was found at his home in Long Beach California on Tuesday.
Hale had previously suffered from two strokes, one in 2007 and another in 2008, however the cause of his death is as yet unkown.
The rapper made his debut on Dr. Dre's 1992 debut solo album The Chronic and went on to sign with Death Row Records. He also collaborated with Eminem, Ludacris, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Warren G.
