LimeWire case closes with $105m fine

LimeWire, as well as its founder Mark Gorton, were named in the case which was concluded with an out-of-court settlement.

Following a legal case that started in 2006, LimeWire was found guilty of facilitating mass copyright infringement in May last year and was ordered offline in October. It was revealed that 93% of traffic on LimeWire was made up of unlicensed and infringing files.

Labels had been seeking damages that could have reached $1.4bn (?0.86bn).
