Google-owned YouTube recently announced its Merch store via a post on the YT blog - which allows users to, amongst other things, download digital music.
However, according to anonymous senior music execs speaking to The New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle, Google is plotting to launch a much larger assault in the digital music space over the next few weeks - with a hybrid platform that allows for both streaming and downloadable content.
