The new role adds oversight of the company's global TV business to Garland's remit, which includes Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" and "Got Talent" franchises.
Garland joined Syco in March 2011 from Crystal Entertainment, which he founded in 2007 and ran as CEO to connect talent and brands.
Before that, he served at "American Idol" producer 19 Entertainment for eight years.
