US No.1 Adam Lambert hopes to inspire 'out' gay artists

Lambert became the first openly gay male artist to top the US chart this week, according to Rolling Stone.

Former American Idol runner-up Lambert told Music Week: "It proves the point that great music doesn't have an orientation.

"I hope it helps to open the door for other Out artists and encourages LGBT youth to follow their dreams."

Lambert's album Trespassing is due to be released in the UK in July on RCA.
