Radio One DJ to provide alternative King Kong soundtrack

Radio One DJ Rob da Bank has composed an alternative soundtrack for 1933 film King Kong, to be shown on BBC Four over Christmas.
Viewers will be able to hear the DJ’s soundtrack by pressing the red button when the film airs on December 27. The opening credits of the film will roll to Hudson Mohawke’s Star Crackout and the closing credits to The Pixies’ Monkey Gone to Heaven.
Rob da Bank has also included music from Sigur Ros, Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Black Sabbath and Portishead to Bruce Springsteen, Harry Connick Junior, Bon Iver, Laurie Anderson and Tunng will feature on the soundtrack, which features 42 songs.
Rob da Bank says he wanted to take things from a different angle. He adds, “My soundtrack takes in everything from dubstep to rock and lots of electronica and weird beats.”
The soundtrack will also be broadcast on the Radio One Rob da Bank and Friends show on December 21.
