Victory for Eg White and Elbow at 2009 Ivors

Eg White was named songwriter of the year at the 54th Ivor Novello Awards, while Elbow picked up two gongs.

The Fiction act followed their Nationwide Mercury Prize win last year by picking up awards for best contemporary song for Grounds For Divorce and best song musically and lyrically for One Day Like This.

Both songs are written by Guy Garvey / Richard Jupp / Craig Potter / Mark Potter / Peter Turner and published by Salvation Music / Warner/Chappell Music.

Massive Attack’s Robert del Naja and Grant Marshall won the PRS award for outstanding contribution to British music, while Smokey Robinson won the special international award.
