One-third of users willing to pay for apps
08:01 | Thursday April 1, 2010
A new study has revealed that 35% of mobile users are willing to pay for apps.
The figures come from Mplayit, a Facebook-based app provider, based on download trends on its own store. It found that 57% of iPhone users pay for apps compared to 33% of BlackBerry users and just 16% of Android users.
BlackBerry customers pay an average of $5.99 (£3.94) for an app. For Android users, this is $2.72 (£1.79) but iPhone users only pay $1.99 (£1.30) per app.
Beyond the Mplayit store, Apple comfortably dominates in the apps market. It has 150,000 different apps available and has delivered over 3bn downloads to date.
Nokia recently announced it was delivering 1.5m app downloads a day through its Ovi Store while there are over 30,000 apps now available on Android Marketplace.
