Google Play Music creates own 'Mercury Prize' shortlist

Google Play Music has created its own albums of the year shortlist, based on the release date criteria for the Mercury Prize and the volume of streams each respective record has received.

Bring Me The Horizon topped the list, with nearly a quarter of streams in the shortlist accounted for by their No. 2 release That’s The Spirit.  

Foals, The Libertines, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Mumford & Sons and Everything Everything were also in contention after contributing most-streamed albums over ...
