As Q3 comes to a close, the biggest selling albums and singles of 2016 so far have been revealed, with Drake and Adele leading the way.

Drake’s monster hit One Dance is out in front in the singles list, with combined chart sales of 1.695m, including 540,600 downloads and 119m streams.

By staying at Number One for 15 weeks over the summer, the track equalled Wet Wet Wet’s achievement with 1994 single Love Is All Around. The top five is completed by Lukas Graham’s 7 Years (1.402m), Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb remix) (1.292m), Sia’s Cheap Thrills (1.281m) and Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s This Is What You Came For (1.112m).

Adele’s 25 is out in front as the year’s biggest album, outselling everything in its path so far. It was also the highest selling album of 2015. So far in 2016, the Tottenham singer’s third record has amassed 623,000 combined sales. The album’s paid-for sales account for 96% of its overall figure, with 598,500 copies sold in the UK this year.

Behind it in the top four are Justin Bieber’s Purpose (413,000), David Bowie’s Blackstar (376,000) and Coldplay’s A Head Full Of Dreams (371,000). In the year of his death, Bowie’s greatest hits collection Best Of Bowie is in fifth place, while Drake’s Views is at six.
