Making waves: Saint Sister

Making waves: Saint Sister

This week's hottest brand new act...

KEY TRACK: Half Awake
LABEL: Saint Sister/IE Music Ltd
MANAGEMENT: IE Music
TWITTER: @saint_sister_

WHO: Saint Sister are keyboard player Morgan MacIntyre and harpist Gemma Doherty.

WHAT: Modern folk: classic melodies, wide open space and the odd flourish of electronics.

WHERE: MacIntyre and Doherty met as students at Trinity College, Dublin. They formed in 2014.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SINCE?

Quite a bit. Saint Sister quickly began recording with Hozier bassist Alex Ryan in his Kerry studio, and a series of initial releases culminated this year in debut album Shape Of Silence. At 12 tracks, it’s an in-depth exploration of their sound.

ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

Sure. IE Music, responsible for a roster including Robbie Williams and Lily Allen, recently started managing the pair, so look out for X Factor judging slots and tell-all books soon.

COME ON…

Only joking! Saint Sister’s whispery spin on generations of musical tradition is rightly generating hype around the globe. Watch them rise next year.
