Twitter taps Spotify for audio Moments

Twitter is rolling out audio cards for Spotify, allowing users to listen to 30-second preview clips within timelines.

Spotify tracks will now also be featured within Twitter Moments, including a #SummerSoundtrack launch, which included user submissions and a Twitter poll. Featured tracks include Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff's Summertime, Return Of The Mack, and songs by Anne-Marie, Kygo and Jamie XX.

The three most followed people on Twitter are artists - Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, respectively. Georgina Parnell, head of music & entertainment, Twitter UK said: "We're incredibly excited about the potential of this launch. Music has long been one of the biggest passions on Twitter, with eight of the 10 most-followed UK accounts being music related.

"Twitter Moments is a great way for music fans to discover the most compelling stories from the world of music in an instant, and what better way to enhance this experience than blending it seamlessly with music from Spotify!"

Twitter first launched audio cards in 2014 with SoundCloud and iTunes. The Spotify integration is a bit of good news for the streaming service, which lost out to yet another windowing exclusive today - Catfish & The Bottlemen's second album, The Ride, has been released digitally on Premium-only services.
