Gregg Nadel named president of Elektra Records

Elektra Records has appointed Gregg Nadel as its new president.

Nadel, a 20-year veteran of the Atlantic family, had been Elektra's general manager since 2015 and was previously SVP, A&R and marketing for Atlantic.

Nadel (pictured) started working in Atlantic Records' A&R department in 1997, going on to sign artists such as Sturgill Simpson and the Zac Brown Band. He has also worked marketing campaigns for the likes of Coldplay and Ed Sheeran.

“He has literally grown up at this company, evolving into one of the most gifted and admired A&R people in the business, while at the same time becoming a marketing ace for superstars and new artists alike," said Atlantic chairman and CEO Craig Kallman. "Each label within Atlantic has a distinct, independent point of view, and Gregg has proven time and time again that he has the vision, taste, deep knowledge, and broad experience that make him the perfect choice to carry the esteemed Elektra name into the future.”

Elektra was founded by Jac Holzman in 1950 and has signed acts such as The Doors, The Stooges and Carly Simon over the years. “I’ve come to know and admire Gregg’s passion for new music, the quality of his choices, and his willingness to go out on a limb - all key to having multiple successes," added Holzman.

The Elektra Records roster currently includes artists such as Fitz and the Tantrums, Kaleo, Anderson East and Matt Corby.
