Polydor partners with Caribbean music label BrukOut

Polydor has partnered with BrukOut Records, a UK-based label that celebrates Caribbean music and culture. The joint venture will see them distribute music from new and emerging artists. The deal was signed with Polydor co-president Ben Mortimer (pictured, left, with co-president Tom March).

Seani B, a Radio 1Xtra presenter, remixer, club DJ and producer, is the founder of BrukOut. His partners for the multi-platform venture include Ray Paul, a founding member of the team that started 1Xtra, and Yaw Owusu, an A&R and the curator of the Liverpool International Music Festival.

“The ethos behind BrukOut is simple,” said Seani B. “We want to use our unique and varied skill sets and couple them with our unbridled passion for the music and culture from the Caribbean to bring a new wave of music to the widest possible audience."

Aside from putting out music, BrukOut also publishes a weekly column in The Voice and hosts a monthly club residency at the Notting Hill Arts Club. The first record BrukOut and Polydor are releasing is Alicai Harley’s single Gold, available from August 18.
