In her newly created role at Warner Music UK, Bhagwat will be responsible for developing the group’s inclusion and diversity strategy as well as overseeing policies and initiatives that will help drive attraction, progression, and engagement of talent from under-represented groups.
Bhagwat joins from Channel 4 where she was most recently off-screen diversity executive, and delivered key diversity charter initiatives including the Year Of Disability, Spotlight On Directors and the C4 BAME Action Plan.
Commenting on her new role, Nina Bhagwat said: “It’s exciting and noteworthy that a company with the impact, influence and relevance of Warner Music is placing the inclusion & diversity agenda front and centre of who they are as a company. The team’s commitment to building an inclusive culture where all talent can flourish is clear, and I feel thrilled to be able to join Warner on their journey”.
An official press release stated that Bhagwat will report directly to Masha Osherova, EVP and chief human resources officer, WMG, and Mel Fox, chief transformation officer WMUK, EVP of transformation for recorded music.
Speaking about the appointment, Mel Fox, said: “It’s vital our company reflects the diverse world we live in, and that means ensuring this is an environment where people with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and ideas feel valued, supported and championed. The creation of this important new role underscores our commitment to that promise and strengthens our ability to deliver on it.”
Masha Osherova added: “Nina is going to make a great addition to the Warner Music team; not only does she have an impressive track-record, but she has a clear understanding of how to accelerate change in a creative and fast paced organisation like ours. We’re excited to partner with her on the next step of this important journey towards true and meaningful change.”
