WMG appoints Ian Monsod to Philippines role

Warner Music Group has announced the appointment of Ian Monsod to managing director of Warner Music Philippines.

Monsod will report to Calvin Wong, Warner Music’s president, South East Asia, Hong Kong and Korea.

Monsod joins WMG after serving as president and CEO of Fintechnology, the technology company that pioneered one of the Philippines’ first peer-to-peer online lending platforms.

He said he was “thrilled” about his appointment and added: “Prior to my recent foray into the tech industry, my over 20-year career in media and entertainment had spanned both creative and commercial roles – from playing bass in a rock band to handling corporate strategy.

“I plan to use that mix of experience to bring unique value to the operations of Warner Music Philippines, our amazing artists, and the Philippine music industry in general.”

Calvin Wong added: “I’m so pleased to welcome Ian to Warner Music. The Philippines has become increasingly globally significant to us as the digital business there has exploded. Ian is well placed to help us break new talent and build the careers of established artists in one of the world’s fastest growing music markets.”
