Birmingham's Genting Arena installs new £800k lighting system

Birmingham's Genting Arena has invested £800,000 installing an LED work light and colour changing audience system with full DMX control.

The first system of its kind to be installed in a UK arena, the new audience LED fixtures will be individually controlled and have the ability to produce a multitude of colours, transforming the look and feel of the arena bowl pre, during and post event. Additional benefits include reduced light glare to audiences during events.

Phil Mead, MD of the Genting Arena said: “The installation of this new colour changing lighting system has really improved the quality of our lighting solutions within the arena, and will help create an unforgettable experience for all our event-goers.

“The £800k system can create different atmospheres for all genres of event, and allows event organisers to use their exact brand colours throughout the arena.  With our lighting, they have more flexibility to deliver a bespoke customer journey, a unique option that cannot be found anywhere else in the UK at present.”

The working lights have also been replaced with a new LED florescent fitting that will raise the overall light levels in the bowl, and the control system has been completely renewed with super-fast fibre optic cables and ETC programs. This will create a stable futureproof control system with ability to integrate with visiting productions’ lighting desks
