Shock X Factor exit for Misunderstood

Misunderstood have been voted off The X Factor.

Despite being favourites with bookmakers, the duo - Stephan Benson and Jeffrey Okyere - got the least votes and were the first act to leave the show on Sunday (November 11). For the movies theme week, the pair performed Maniac from Flashdance.

Misunderstood had been mentored by Robbie Williams and also performed original songs on the show. Williams' judging role has been taken over by Nile Rodgers while the former Take That singer is on tour.

Despite singing The Greatest Show from this year's biggest-selling album, The Greatest Showman, Giovanni Spano was the second contestant eliminated on Sunday. Spano's cover of Williams' Let Me Entertain You in the Sing-off failed to win over the judges, as Acacia & Aaliyah were saved for the next round following a rendition of Skepta's Shutdown.

The results show featured performances by Michael Buble and recent Music Week cover star Olly Murs, alongside Lady Leshurr. Murs managed to get the name of his favourite contestant wrong by referring to Dalton Harris as 'Duane'.

Harris' rendition of California Dreamin' (which featured in the film San Andreas) was pushing for the Top 20 on iTunes following the show.

Polaroid by Jonas Blue feat. Liam Payne has enjoyed a chart boost following the appearance on the previous week's X Factor, moving 44-16.
