Google URL takedown requests reach over half a million per day

The latest Google transparency report has revealed that the tech giant is now receiving over half a million takedown requests per day for URLs that allegedly infringe copyrights.

Last August it was reported that Google's takedown requests had doubled to 5.7 million per month.

In January this year its year-on-year takedown requests had increased by 1,300% (with the BPI flagging up more than 4.5 million for the search giant over the 12 month period on behalf of its members).
