It's official: Apple buys Beats for $3 billion
Apple has confirmed that it has acquired Beats - including streaming service Beats Music and premium headphone king Beats Electronics - for a total of $3 billion.
As part of the acquisition, Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will join Apple. The purchase price consists of approximately $2.6 billion plus approximately $400 million that will be paid over time.
Beats product lineup will now be offered through the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorised Resellers.
