Removing piracy sites from search engine results is 'not effective,' says new report

Removing copyright-infringing sites from search engine results will not substantially alter or prevent piracy, according to a new report from the nonprofit Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) in the US.

A few internet data sources revealed that 15% of traffic to "rogue sites" came from search. Data from web traffic firm Alexa showed that only about 8% of traffic to The Pirate Bay comes from search.
