Spotify surges past 10m paying subscribers

Spotify has confirmed that it now has 10 million paying subscribers and more than 40 million active users across 56 countries.

The figures reveal some impressive acceleration of user accrual by the company; at last count, in March 2013, it announced 6 million paying subs and 24 million active users.
