Yesterday's announcement from Spotify that it was bringing a free service to mobile devices has inevitably raised a few concerns amongst managers and artists - primarily that by giving away more for nothing, consumers will now have even less incentive to pay money for music.
The company has today reached out directly to artists to address the subject, claiming that the free mobile service will substantially increase its premium subscriber base, and therefore royalties being paid to labels and artists.
