US digital albums up 2.8% in Q1 15, overall LPs slip 1.8%

US digital album sales were up 2.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of the year, while the territory’s overall album market saw just a slight dip of 1.8%.

The latest Nielsen SoundScan figures put US digital album sales in the first quarter of 2015 at 28.26 million, while overall sales for the format stood at 60.6 million.

Meanwhile, vinyl sales continued to soar, rising 52.5% YoY from 1.82 million in Q1 14 to 2.77 million in Q1 15.
