Women outnumber men across UK jobs in music and arts

The UK music industry’s ethnic diversity record might be looking a little disgraceful this afternoon - but at least in terms of gender employment equality, it's putting other creative markets to shame.

According to new UK government statistics, women claimed 51.2% of jobs in the ‘Music, Performing and Visual Arts’ industry in 2013. That equated to 124,000 jobs in total in the sector, compared to 119,000 for men.
