MOBO reveals details of 2016 Unsung competition

MOBO has revealed UK stars and past MOBO Award nominees Lady Leshurr and Ghetts as ambassadors to the 2016 MOBO Unsung competition.

Open to singers, songwriters, producers, rappers and poets, the nationwide initiative, launched in 2000, aims to identify and showcase exceptionally talented emerging artists.

For the past 20 years, MOBO has provided a platform for exceptional British talent. Acts such as Stormzy, Rita Ora, Emeli Sande, Ella Eyre, Krept & Konan credit MOBO for providing their first major performance platform.
MOBO has also signed up a panel of industry experts to help select the final winner of MOBO UnSung.

Confirmed panellists include artist managers John Woolf (Wiley, Disciples), Kwame Kwaten (Laura Mvula), hit songwriter for Beyoncé Carla Marie Williams and star producer/songwriter Fraser T Smith (Adele, Kano, Craig David).

The Top 10 finalists, including the MOBO UnSung 2016 winner, will embark on a UK tour of four cities.
Lady Leshurr said: “I’m so excited that MOBO haved asked me to be an ambassador for this year’s MOBO UnSung competition.

The UnSung initiative is a must for any new artist looking for a break. I can’t wait to hear what the artists come with this year.”

Current MOBO UnSung Winners Mic Lowry commented: “There is so much undiscovered talent in the UK and we would encourage any new talent to enter MOBO UnSung and get their music heard. Who knows, hopefully an act from Liverpool can win it again.”
