Record Store Day unveils Help Musicians UK as official charity partner

Help Musicians UK has been revealed as the official charity partner of Record Store Day 2017.

Participating artists Ciaran Lavery and The View are set to perform in record stores on Dundee and Belfast on March 21 to launch the partnership.

Ciaran Lavery will perform at Belfast’s Head record shop, while The View will play in Dundee’s Assai Records. Also on March 21, Record Store Day will reveal its 2017 product list. Over 200 shops are set to take part in Record Store Day 2017, which takes place on April 22.

Richard Robinson, chief executive of HMUK said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Record Store Day in such a milestone year for the event - its 10th birthday. We encourage everyone across the UK to get involved this year. Visit a store, embrace the unique culture, and donate to the work that HMUK is doing to support musicians and those in the industry at every stage in their career. Record Store Day is a powerful reminder to value our musicians so that they can continue to thrive.”

Megan Page, coordinator of Record Store Day in the UK, said: “We are delighted to be able to support HMUK and all the great work that they do in the music industry with this partnership. Record Store Day exists to celebrate independent culture and to bring artists and communities together – these launch events do exactly that."
