BTS beats Taylor Swift's YouTube record

BTS have beaten Taylor Swift’s YouTube record for music video views over a 24-hour period.

The South Korean boy band earned more than 45 million views in a single day after Idol premiered on the platform. BTS is the only Korean band with three music videos to surpass 350m views.

Look What You Made Do by Taylor Swift set a record last year with 43.2m views in its first 24 hours.

Idol will be pushing for a decent UK Singles Chart placing this week, while new album Love Yourself: Answer looks set to repeat the success of other releases in the concept series. Love Yourself: Her peaked at No.14 last year and has UK sales to date of 26,941 (Official Charts Company), while Love Yourself: Tear has sales of 24,817 (OCC) and peaked at No.8 following its release in May 2018.

Earlier this year, BTS became the first K-pop act to reach No.1 on the US albums chart. The group play two O2 Arena dates on October 9-10 - their first ever UK shows.
