Melanie C to give keynote address at AIM's Women In Music event

Melanie C is to give the keynote address at AIM’s Women In Music evening, which takes place at City Hall in London on January 17. The former Spice Girl will speak about her career in music and life as an independent artist.

In the spirit of Music Week’s Women In Music Awards, the event will celebrate successes and look at the challenges for women in the music industry.

Previous keynote speakers at the event have included Annie Nightingale, Everything But The Girl’s Tracey Thorn, Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley and solo artists Emmy The Great and Sophie Ellis Bextor.

The event, now in its 10th year, is staged in association with Ingrooves and supported by the Mayor Of London.

AIM’s Women In Music 2018 will provide networking opportunities and a chance to hear a range of speakers. In addition to Melanie C, the line-up includes Marta Sologni (Mixer for Bjork, Sampha & others), Paulette Long (director, Westbury Music), Steph Marziano (producer & engineer, Denai Moore, Mumford & Sons & others), Abi Leland (Leland Music) and London Night Czar Amy Lamé.

There will also be panel discussions, Women In The Studio and Female Entrepreneurship in Music.

The event will be held from 5.30-10pm at London’s Living Room, City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London, SE1 2AA.

Men are also actively encouraged to attend. Tickets, priced £33 for AIM members, are available from AIM’s website.
