Escape route: Fraser T Smith, Børns and more star on Music Week's line-up for The Great Escape 2018

Music Week has unveiled its line-up for The Great Escape Festival, with an array of new talent including Børns and Ten Tonnes set to play our On The Radar stage.

We will also present one of the picks of TGE’s Convention line-up for 2018, inviting super-producer Fraser T Smith down to Brighton for an In Conversation session at The Old Courtroom.

Ten Tonnes will open the Music Week On The Radar stage at Coalition at 6:30pm on Friday, May 18. The 21-year-old (real name Ethan Barnett) singer is signed to Warner Bros and is the brother of George Ezra.

Ten Tonnes will be joined on the bill by Fiction Records rock’n’roller Lion (7:30pm), Los Angeles indie trio Lo Moon (8:30pm) and Canadian glam rock quartet The Beaches (9:30pm).

Børns (real name Garrett Borns) will headline our stage, and is fresh from the release of his second album, Blue Madonna, on Polydor earlier this year. Børns takes influence from pop, rock, AM radio and electronic music and has collaborated with Lana Del Rey.

Earlier on Friday, Music Week’s programme at TGE 2018 will be kickstarted by our interview with Fraser T Smith, from 10:30-11:30am in The Old Courtroom.

Smith has had a hand in six UK No.1 singles and 16 No.1 albums in Britain and the US. His work on Adele’s 21 was rewarded with a Grammy in 2012, while he recently helmed Stormzy’s multiple award-winning, platinum-selling debut, Gang Signs & Prayer. Now working with a raft of emerging UK talent including Dave and Ramz, Smith continues to be at the forefront of the scene.

In conversation with Music Week’s Ben Homewood, Smith will look back at his life in music, with breaking talent, hit records and the shifting sands of the music industry all up for discussion.

The Great Escape takes place in various venues across Brighton from May 17-19. For more information on the line-up – which includes Music Week cover stars Pale Waves, plus Mist, Nilüfer Yanya and more – click here.
