Imogen Heap pays tribute to Primary Talent's Dave Chumbley

Primary Talent International has announced that Dave Chumbley died suddenly on Tuesday evening (August 22) following a short illness.

The booking agent, who was 57, represented artists including Lana del Rey, Imogen Heap, Nerina Pallot, Ziggy Marley, Rufus Wainwright and Gwen Stefani. He was also Kylie Minogue's agent up until 2014.

The agency issued the following statement: “Dave was a great man, a world class agent, esteemed director and colleague whose dedication to his artists was unmatched. We are extremely lucky to have been touched by his unique humour, exceptional kindness and infectious joie de vivre. Our thoughts are with his wife and children. RIP”

George Akins, owner of DHP Family, described him as a "great friend and supporter”.

"He was instrumental in helping DHP family become the national promoter it is today, with key tours by Dropkick Murphys and Rufus Wainwright putting us on the map,” said Akins. “A big hole is left in the music industry today,  he was a true maverick who ripped up the rule book and made sure he looked after his artists and supported the good guys. We will be forever in his debt."

Artists also paid tribute to the agent who had supported their careers.

“The man to thank for booking so many of my live shows for 2 decades, died on Tuesday,” tweeted Imogen Heap. “Dave Chumbley, I'm really going to miss you.”

Wheatus also paid tribute via social media: “We mourn the early passing of Dave Chumbley @primary_talent. He gave us a chance w @edprimary when nobody would. The real deal. RIP, Dave.”
